Russia Consumer Sentiment Index (CSI)

A macroeconomic indicator calculated based on data from mass sociological surveys in order to explain and predict consumer behavior in the short term. Five basic questions are used for the calculation, reflecting the assessments and expectations of the population regarding personal well-being, the economic development of the country and the situation on the consumer market. The index is calculated as the difference between the proportion of positive and the proportion of negative responses plus 100. The IPN has 2 sub-aggregates: the current status index and the consumer expectations index. A standardized survey of the population is conducted by inFOM for the Bank of Russia.
