First Gen Corporation (First Gen) was incorporated in 1998 as the primary holding company for the power generation and energy-related businesses of the Lopez Group. Although First Gen was incorporated in 1998, it has been involved in the power generation business since 1993 through its parent and controlling shareholder, First Holdings, when its first major investment in power generation, Bauang Private Power Corporation, was incorporated. First Gen’s core business activity is focused on power generation through its subsidiaries and associates. Today, First Gen is the leading clean and renewable energy company in the Philippines with an installed capacity of 2,822 MW. This accounts for about 19% of the country's total installed capacity.
