Average hourly earnings including overtime for employees paid by the hour, by industry (monthly, unadjusted for seasonality). The introduction of administrative data in 2001 and the associated change in methodology resulted in level shifts for some series. This affects the comparability of pre- and post-2001 estimates. Estimates for the latest reference month are preliminary. Earnings data are based on gross payroll before source deductions. Industry estimates in this table are based on the 2017 North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Version 3.0. Service producing industries includes the following industries: trade, transportation and warehousing, information and cultural industries, finance and insurance, real estate and rental and leasing, professional, scientific and technical services, management of companies and enterprises, administrative and support, waste management and remediation services, educational services, health care and social assistance, arts, entertainment and recreation, accommodation and food services, other services (except public administration) and public administration.
