The index reflects the final value of goods and services produced in the country taking into account taxes, less subsidies, in current US dollars. Conversion to dollars occurs using the official exchange rate for the year. For countries where the official exchange rate does not reflect reality, the source uses an alternative Coefficient of recalculation. To calculate GDP, the World Bank uses data from national statistical authorities. It checks the quality of national accounts in which there may be incomplete accounting of unregistered economic activity and can make its adjustments before publishing its data. Therefore, the publication of annual data takes place with a significant lag (6-7 months) after the end of the year.
