Dual-currency basket - a basket of US dollars and euros to Russian ruble. The ruble value of the dual-currency basket between February 1, 2005 and November 9, 2014 was the operational benchmark of the Bank of Russia exchange rate policy. The bottom line is to use the average value of world currencies in its calculations. The ruble value of a dual-currency basket is calculated as the weighted average exchange rate of the ruble against the dollar and the euro: 45% of the Central Bank’s euro rate + 55% of the Central Bank’s dollar rate = basket value in rubles. Official rates are set by the Bank of Russia daily (on business days), usually until 15:00 Moscow time.
