The Uchaly Mining and Metallurgical Combine was founded in 1954 on the basis of the Uchalinsky copper-zinc deposit. The enterprise is a large producer of copper and zinc concentrates in Russia. Product consumers: enterprises of the UMMC metallurgical complex: OJSC Sredneuralsky Copper Smelting Plant, OJSC Svyatogor and PJSC Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant. In addition to the above products, The Uchaly Mining and Metallurgical Combine produces lime and crushed stone.
At present, copper-pyrite ores are mined at the Uzelginsky, Talgan, Molodezhny, Zapadno-Ozerny, Ozerny, Uchalinsky and Novo-Uchalinsky deposits. The number of employees of the plant: more than five thousand people. The Uchaly Mining and Metallurgical Combine has developed and implemented an Integrated Management System in accordance with the requirements of international standards ISO 9001,14001, 45001, certified by the Russian Register Association. Continuous improvement of the company's activities is achieved by the effective functioning of the management system.
