It provides exchange telecommunication services, including switched local residential and business, local private line voice and data, and Centrex services, as well as toll services within local access and transport areas (LATA). The company also offers exchange access services, such as switched and special access services that link a customer’s premises and the transmission facilities of other telecommunications carriers. In addition, it provides fiber-to-the-premises services under the FiOS service mark for residential and small business subscribers; and engages in the provision of local and network access services, and rental of facilities and equipment. The company was incorporated in 1926 and is based in New York, New York. As of April 1, 2016, GTE Southwest Incorporated operates as a subsidiary of Frontier Communications Corporation.
